Getting set to stay with us this August, or considering a visit to the Gold Coast? While there’s plenty of reasons why this is a top rated holiday destination, including the stunning coastal location, sunny days, friendly locals, and world class attractions, the next month is offering up a few events that are really special. Here’s why August is looking better than ever, and is the perfect time for a Surfers Paradise visit!
The Gold Coast Eisteddfod
Competitors from all over Queensland and interstate are headed to the Gold Coast to take part in the 2019 Gold Coast Eisteddfod at the Home of the Arts (HOTA) in Bundall, just a few minutes from Surfers Paradise. Talented performances will take place from choir groups, dancers, performing arts, and musicians battling it out for first place, and putting on some pretty spectacular show in the process for spectators to enjoy.
The events are spread over multiple dates, so head to HOTA for more information. Make a day of it and wander around the beautiful surrounding parklands on the water and take in enthralling sights of the art installations lining the pathway. Duck into the cinema for a movie, stop at the cafe for a snack, or head for a swim. It’s a world all on its own and there’s so much to see and do at HOTA.
The Gruffalo Trail
Step into a world where you’re not quite sure what’s real and what isn’t! The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has the Gruffalo Trail for you to enjoy, where technology and reality combine to create a fun and interactive experience for the whole family to enjoy. Grab the augmented reality app and step into the deep dark forest and see if you can find your favourite characters along the way. Take a selfie with them, and amaze your friends. There’s certainly more than meets the eye when you head head along the Gruffalo Trail this August.
Luckily this experience is part of the price for general entry to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, so you can get up close and personal with the incredible Australian Wildlife as well as some international furry friends as well. Catch the daily shows, or just wander around exploring the different animal exhibits. Catch the train and see the park from a different angle! Climb and play on the huge outdoor play areas, or conquer your fear of heights with the treetop climbs!
The Colour Run Love Tour
Get colourful, get moving, and do it for a good cause! The ever popular Colour Run Love Tour debuts on the Gold Coast at the Broadwater Parklands this August, with participants of all ages welcome to join in the 5km run for charity, where they will be doused head to toe in colourful pigment as they pass through the colour zones. Add in the bubble zone, disco beats, and a little foam all in the name of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, and you’re guaranteed to leave feeling like you’re dancing on a rainbow.
